AbeBooks' Most Expensive Sales in May 2012: The sad death of the author and illustrator Maurice Sendak on May 8 sparked demand for rare copies of his classic children’s picture book, Where the Wild Things Are. The interest culminated with the sale of a $25,000 signed first edition of the book – a record for any Sendak book on AbeBooks.
