Good to see the Johnny Mack Brown movie poster with Raymond Hatton who was his sidekick from the late forties to the early fifties.
Growing up in Georgia, Johnny Mack was as popular as Roy Rogers and Hopalong Cassidy. For one thing he had been a football star at an SEC school and until near the end, he retained his athletic appearance. Secondly, "Johnny Mack" had a nice best buddy sound to it.
But most of all Johnny Mack was one of the very few cowboy stars (or star of any kind) who didn't speak with an accent.
