James Reasoner's comment on my post of the Nelson Nye Vega paperback led me to look at the last page of the book to see what other westerns Vega published. Here's the list.
Nye and Ryerson are the only ones I recognize too. I don't think I ever saw a Vega western before. Vega has always been the epitome of schlock to me, which may explain why.
As for FRONTIER SCOUT, Nye's archives reveal the following:
The Irreverent Scout. Published by Mills & Boon, Inc., England, 1961. No date Published as Frontier Scout by Vega Books, Inc., New York, 1964.
Nye's westerns vary all over the place, as far as I'm concerned, and this one sounds as though it was at the bottom end of the scale.

The books by Nye and Ryerson could've reprints. The other names don't mean much, to me, at least.
