wfaa.com Dallas - Fort Worth: "Dallas will keep $2,000 found by a teenager in a parking lot last February.
The money will go into the city's general fund — not back to Plano high school student Ashley Donaldson, who found the cash in an envelope at the Pavillion Shopping Center in North Dallas."

Terrible conclusion to her story! To find the money: good. To remain honest and want to determine the owner (which really can't be done, it had no wallet it seems) was also good -- but it seemed that her effort and truthfulness went unrewarded.
Low and I don't get it. Clearly the money never came from the city so how can Dallas take it when she is the only owner of record. If you can sue a city in small claims court in Texas I think she would easily prevail.
Breaking news, they just updated the story and state law is that unless the rightful owner is found she gets it. My verification word is exskuzz,
even so I think the police chief is still a skuzz.
Moot since Texas actually has a statute entitling her to the money. There is the case from England, (Armory v. Delamirie)enshrined as common law and having so actual force of law, colloquially referred to as finders keepers.
I hope things work out in her favor.
A true example of an honest young citizen -- good to hear and I hope too it comes out in favor of the young lady.
