Desmond Morris? Issac Asimov? These were the two that were the biggest influences on me.(Stephen Gould, Oliver Sacks and Albert Einstein made the cut and would likely round out my top five)
All these folks, maybe not including Morris, for me, AND Patrick Moore, Vivian Gornick, Henry S.F. Cooper, Willy Ley, Gregory Benford, Birute Galdikas, Jacques Cousteau, Francine Patterson...your indulgence of these Online College jokers mystifies me perhaps even more than the protean nature of your devotion to the Hilton kid. Rebecca Skloot not getting "props" yet, I can see. Ignoring Gardner, Asimov, Ley, Moore and Gornick, not so much.
But, then, I'm usually offended when someone presents themselves as an Authority when they seem pretty clearly to know less about a subject than I do. I am an authority on nothing much.

I just reviewed Brian Greene's (Number 5 on this list) THE HIDDEN REALITY on my blog. Greene is great at explaining complicated physics concepts.
Desmond Morris?
Issac Asimov?

Einstein? Asimov? Martin Gardner?
Yeah, I was surprised to find Asimov omitted. I read many of his science books back in the day.

Just fodder for discussion.

I'm easily grumped at the moment, clearly, but they seem so...gormless...and certainly not with this list alone.
