Tapes indicate child directed planes at NY airport: "NEW YORK (AP) - An air traffic controller at New York's Kennedy Airport is in hot water after he allowed his young son to radio instructions to several pilots."
I did not read the article. One excerpt I heard on the radio was the kid saying the runway was clear, with the dad right there with him. It did not sound all that bad to me.
What amazes me is how many people have no problem with this: a man playing games with hundreds of lives on a busy runway at one of the busiest airports in the world during the busiest time of the day, dealing with (some) pilots who do not speak English as their first language.

Outside of the improvement, how did they know the diference?
"Da plane, da plane!"
