The Old Man went to Rice for a degree. Then he suffered the same poor fate as our host, Dr. Crider, and became a teasipper.

Speaking of UT, The Old Man (T.O.M.) was in San Antonio and met an old grad student freind from UT. T.O.M. had not seen the guy for about 45 years. The guy, Vance, told a couple stories about his father Joe Vance who played for the Yankees in '37 and '38. Vance was the fastest on the team to run the bases and apparently beat Jesse Owens in a foot race.
