I Miss the Old Days

Lost Facades of the 1970s Anti-Walmart: Their Houston store, dubbed the ‘Indeterminate Facade’ with its crumbling bricks, is said to have appeared in more books on 20th-century architecture than photographs of any other modern structure.

Judy and I shopped there many times when we first moved to Alvin, as it wasn't too far away.

"This would never have happened in France." A phrase applicable to a variety of situations.

We had a couple near where we stay in Florida that were worse than that, if you can believe it. At least this looks nice. One in West Palm Beach had ALL the stores close except Penney's. Can you imagine?

Actually, this was good for us. They eventually closed and have now replaced it with an outlet mall. Did I mention that it was one freeway exit - three miles - from us, and that Jackie is very happy about it?
