Doc Savage Update

Shane Black Scribing a Doc Savage Movie for Star Trek Producers | /Film: "Nifty screenwriter Shane Black (Lethal Weapon, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) is apparently at work on a new adaptation of Doc Savage—the pulpy 1930s alphamale hero—for the tentpole production duo Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Transformers and Star Trek franchises). What’s more, Black let it be known to AICN that the project will be a period piece set in the aforementioned decade rather than one in modern day complete with hoverboards and H1N1."

Hat tip to Jeff Segal.

Great news as I'm reading Savage #2 and thoroughly enjoying it.

I'll keep my fingers crossed. The Ron Ely version, despite it's problems, I remember fondly.

So do I, Randy, but we're in the minority.

Hallelujah. I've done my best to blot the Ely thing from my memory.

Here's hoping a Doc script will have much of the same sparkle - Black has given us Lethal Weapon and Monster Squad (good), Long Kiss Goodnight (very good), KISS KISS BANG BANG -

I think it's possible his Doc script might have the same sparkle - should provoke some great talk on other forums!

I sure hope Black at least tips the fedora to the Ely version and has Doc tell his main squeeze that she's a rock. Or have her point out the window and say, "What's that, Doc?" And he can say, "That's a rock." Something!

Or, was that "Mona --

You're a brick" ?

I've been hoping for more details or plans about Doc Savage.

Actually author Murray has planned and spoke of this at a pulp show, new Doc novels are forthcoming.

They include HORROR IN GOLD, and also THE DESERT DEMONS I believe and other books, based on outlines and notes that came from Lester Dent.
