The New York Times: Lillian Ross, who became known as the consummate fly-on-the-wall reporter in more than six decades at The New Yorker, whether writing about Ernest Hemingway, Hollywood or a busload of Indiana high school seniors on a class trip to New York, died on Wednesday in Manhattan. She was 99.

I had no idea she was still alive.
I read PICTURE long ago, but I'd forgotten about her even though she continued writing until about 5 years ago.
PICTURE is the book about the making of The African Queen, right? A magnificent book. I knew she was still occasionally writing something for The New Yorker, so I guess I assumed she was still with us...but not that old.
Now, I did think Jake LaMotta died years ago.
It's about THE RED BADGE OF COURAGE.
