Lists! Can't live with them, can't live without them 8-)

Texas: The Time It Never Rained - Elmer Kelton; The Gay Place - Billy Lee Brammer; most anything by Neal Barrett, Jr.

Oklahoma: Okla Hannali - R. A. Lafferty

I'll leave the mysteries rep writers to y'all experts, but for Texas, I'm partial to Joe Lansdale and a certain Alvin Professor.

I find this a wonderful list, I now have several new to me books to read. Excellent.

An alternative "Famous Option" for Indiana would be The Magnificent Ambersons." Or Dan Wakefield's Going All The Way.

For Illinois...Studs Terkel? Ray Bradbury (where do you think Something Wicked This Way Comes is set, eh?)?
