Slade is one of my favorite groups ever (I have at least a dozen of their albums in vinyl and/or CD), but they weren't near as popular here in the U.S. as they were in the U.K. Sadly, the few people I know who know anything about Slade's songs only know the Quiet Riot cover versions.
I always remember their first album where they had S-L-A-D-E "tattooed" on their knuckles in what was obviously magic marker! On the other hand, I do like some of their songs, especially "Goodbye to Jane" and British seasonal favorite, "Merry Christmas Everybody."

Not very big in the U.S. Could partially be blamed on their bad haircuts.
