Anne Jackson, R. I. P.

The New York Times: Anne Jackson, who was half of one of America’s best-known acting couples, sharing much of a long and distinguished career with her husband, Eli Wallach, died on Tuesday at her home in Manhattan. She was 90.

Hat tip to Jeff Meyerson.

Wasn't she also in the TV adaptation of Helene Hanff's 84, CHARLING CROSS ROAD? We saw the play on stage in London, with Rosemary Leach and David Swift.

Just checked. The television adaptation was 1975, with Jackson and Frank Finlay. We saw the play in 1982 in London.

Interesting trivia I didn't know: David Swift is the older brother of Clive Swift, best known as the long-suffering Richard Bucket (pronounced "Bouquet" by his wife Hyacinth) in KEEPING UP APPEARANCES.

The Swift brothers and Ms. Leach are still alive, in their 80s. Frank Finlay died in January at 89. Anne Jackson was 90. Her husband Eli Wallach died two years ago at 98.

I miss the old days.
