My Dad ordered a new Olds in 1953. Being sort of a contrarian, he wanted a stick shift, and by that time it was a special order, as most of the Oldsmobiles had Hydramatics by then. So anyway, in 1960, after hundreds of thousands of shifts, the stick broke. It took GM a month to find one and have it shipped to Milwaukee. The car lasted another two years, until it gave out from rust and leaving blue oil clouds behind it wherever it went. They don't make 'em like they used to.

My Mom had a baby blue '49 Olds with Hydra-Matic.
"Come away with me Lucille
In my merry Oldsmobile..."

(Later, of course, Lucille picks a fine time to leave him.)
I can't tell my Lucille story here. Or anywhere.
Love the grill

I miss the old days.
