Here is your NY top 10 for 5/12/65:

1 3 BACK IN MY ARMS AGAIN - The Supremes
2 1 MRS. BROWN YOU’VE GOT A LOVELY DAUGHTER - Herman’s Hermits
3 5 HELP ME, RHONDA - The Beach Boys
4 4 LAND OF 1000 DANCES - Cannibal & The Headhunters
5 7 I’LL NEVER FIND ANOTHER YOU - The Seekers
6 2 TICKET TO RIDE - The Beatles
7 9 IT’S NOT UNUSUAL - Tom Jones
8 8 I DO LOVE YOU - Billy Stewart
9 17 CONCRETE AND CLAY - The Unit Four Plus Two
10 10 COUNT ME IN - Gary Lewis & The Playboys

Soupy finally dropped out of the top 10 (from 6 to 11). Wooly Bully is #15 and the great Otis Redding jumped from 57 to 20 with I'm Been Loving You Too Long (To Stop Now), a classic by any standard.

Jeff (who really misses the old days)

The Otis Redding number is one of my favorites. I can't say I'm sorry that Soupy is out of the Top 10. What a terrible song that was.

I didn't remember Peter & Gordon doing a version of "True Love Ways ". The original by Buddy Holly was my husband's and my first dance at our wedding reception.

A great choice!

It's no "Louie Louie" but what is?

I liked Peter & Gordon so I did know they covered the Buddy Holly.

CONCRETE AND CLAY, a great one.

Yes, Fred--and one we NEVER hear on oldies radio (at least not our local New Orleans station). I remember one of the Inspector Rebus (or possibly Inspector Banks or Diamond) mysteries where he turns on the radio and "Concrete and Clay" is playing and it takes him back to the sixties and his youth. Very effective use of a song.

I like it a lot. I'm sure I've used it as a "Song of the Day."
