Nice to see a plug for Ellen Nehr's Crime Club Compendium, a fantastic reference and one more deserving of recognition than it got when it was published (I did the jacket photos, which were not as good as they should have been...this was before scanners became ubiquitous). Art Scott

Naturally that was the first thing I looked for in the article. A great work of scholarship on crime fiction history.
