You featured two of my favorite authors today, Clifford Simak and Fredric Brown. I feel it's up to us old folks to keep their names alive. I've become friendly with an young employee of a local grocery store and have given him both Simak and Brown to read. He was familiar with Heinlein and Asimov but had never heard of Simak or Brown. I'm proud to say I've really sparked his interest in classic Science Fiction
Two of my favorites, too. I've been a big Simak and Brown fan since I was a kid. I didn't now about Brown's crime fiction until later, but I like that a lot, too. Simak's CITY is one of my all-time favorite SF novels.
CEMETERY WORLD not one of his better works, but it was the lead story (as the new serial) of the oldest issue of ANALOG my father had left around the house, so it was my introduction to him (and to ANALOG)...
Add me to the fan club. Read City as a kid in the 50s and have been a fan ever since. Oddly, I knew about but never read Brown until I was ~ 30 and was sorry it took me so long!

And, of course, Simak was one of the prime influences on Asimov...
It's been a while since I read Cemetery World. Mainly I remember the basic idea, which I liked, and not much else.

City made me a fan for life. I'd read Brown early on but didn't become a fan until I was in my 20s.
