NYTimes.com: Ed Nelson, a prolific actor who became a familiar face to American television audiences over 40 years, notably as a star of the prime-time soap opera “Peyton Place,” died on Saturday in Greensboro, N.C. He was 85.
He was quite a mainstay in 70's episodic TV, especially the Quinn Martin type of shows. (Just saw him the other day in a 'Bionic Woman' repeat.) In the glut of name actors in the "Airport" sequels, he had a memorable moment in the one with Karen Black. ("Airport '75"?)
