Things Found in Books
AbeBooks: Things Found in Books: Be careful what you use as a bookmark. Thousands of dollars, a Christmas card signed by Frank Baum, a Mickey Mantle rookie baseball card, a marriage certificate from 1879, a baby’s tooth, a diamond ring and a handwritten poem by Irish writer Katharine Tynan Hickson are just some of the stranger objects discovered inside books by AbeBooks.com booksellers.

In the "New Tricks" episode which aired here last night an old picture found in a donated book leads to solving the case of a serial killer who murdered 11 young women, so be careful what you leave in a book!

I found over $200 in a book I bought at the thrift store.
I thought you only found a penny!

This was a few years ago. Oddly enough, the book was about treasure hunting, and I didn't open it for months after I bought it. Sure was s surprise do find those bills tucked inside.
Sweet!

Nothing beats the slice of raw bacon used as a bookmark, but I'd prefer the money.
My friend Dave came upon a collection of Frederic Brown paperbacks from the fifties, all in great condition. As he was paying a 20 dollar bill fell out of one of them. He then watched as the owner destroyed the books looking for more money.
That's a sad story.
