I was always partial to the Motown-flavored hits that charted for the Platters (slightly different roster than the "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes"-era lineup) in 1966-67, "I Love You 1,000 Times" and "With This Ring."
Those aren't bad at all, but I think Tony Williams was one of the great voices of the rock era.
