Hell, I could name ten from Texas alone.
I haven't yet made my way through all the non-contemporary southern authors that I should read! I've read a couple of those mentioned including McCarthy. Good writers, but not favorites. Probably will read Ann Pancake if only because of her name.
I also agree with Jerry House!
Is it just me, or do they leave names like Joe Lansdale and Bill Crider off of these lists because they don't think of Texas as Southern?
