I couldn't pick a favorite(Forever War? if I absolutely had to pick)but perhaps the most intriguing is perhaps "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" Being artificial two of the women in the book were duplicates(the Sean Young and Darryl Hanna characters in "Blade Runner")not only perfect twins but also implanted with identical memories. It's hard to pick Dick's most surreal moment but when the detective realizes he's being called on to kill his girlfriend stretched my mind.

To me, "best" = resonates with me.I have a lot of "bests" in SF as well as other lits. It's also interesting how a "best" book resonates differently with different people. e.g. note The Dispossed, one of my "bests".

Conversely, since this is a bunch of people offering favorites rather than a pompous twit or group of six who or which doesn't know shit from wild honey telling us, while on salary at some media conglom, how marvy every Spielberg movie or Moody Blues song has ever been (YES, EVERY ONE OF THEM), I like it a lot better than Charles does, even if David Zindell is unlikely ever to make my own personal best lists.
