Bernhard Goetz didn't kill anyone. One of the four was paralyzed. I believe Goetz was only convicted of illegal possession of a gun.
Apparently episodes of both Law & Order, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit were ripped from one Canadian headline case - the murders committed by Paul Bernardo and his wife Karla Homolka.
