Why I Currently Hate Windows 7

I'm being denied access to my own files. That pretty much sucks. When I try to change the security settings, I'm told that I can't do that because I don't have access. Therefore I currently hate 7. A lot.

Update: I meant Windows 7, not Vista as I previously posted. Thanks to Jeff for pointing that out. I can now get permission, but it's tedious, and it appears that I might have to do it for every folder. It's not fun to be protected from myself. But maybe it's not a bad idea.

You need to get the (free?) upgrade to Windows 7. Ask George.

And speaking of George, what happened to his blog?

Thanks, Pat. I've about got it figured out, and that helps.

Bill, what happened that you lost access to your files? Did this happen in the process of updating from Vista, or...? Just wondering 'cause I'm gonna have to make the move from WinXP at some point and I don't want to share your experience if I can help it.

Apparently Windows 7 has some password deal that I never had to deal with in XP. I don't know what the problem is, but a lot of people seem to have it, so there's help on the 'net. I think I have it under control now. Another problem you might have is that if you buy a 6-bit computer (I did) then your old 32 bit hardware and software might not work. I got the drivers for the hardware, so that's okay now. The software, though, might not ever work again. Too old.

another of those damn Microsoft is helping you things. It's as if they let you use a hammer for driving nails, but tell you that the head of it must be made of foam rubber so you don't hurt yourself...
