I remember reading about Cabell in Lin Carter's excellent book "Imaginary Worlds" and was always curious about his invented universe. Plus the controversy over his books made it even more intriguing.
I finally ordered myself a copy of "Domnei", but I just couldn't get a handle on his style and dropped it after that first chapter. And I still feel as though I'm the poorer for it. Maybe someday I'll give it another go.....
I started rading Cabell with "THERE WERE TWO PIRATES" and enjoyed him ever since, though his style became a bit too familiar after 7 or 8 books. SILVER STALLION is one of his best.
