His daughter says he died Wednesday of natural causes. He was 89.
Nancy Foy says her father landed the job as the announcer on 'The Lone Ranger' radio program in 1948. Radio historian Jim Harmon says Foy's introduction and narration was so good it 'made many people forget there were others before him.'"

Awww, man . . . Wasn't Foy also the announcer on Dick Cavett's late-night talk show? I seem to remember that from time to time Cavett would cajole him into saying, "Meanwhile, back at the arroyo . . ." Or did I imagine the whole thing?
You're not imagining it. That was Foy on the Cavett show.
I thought he was already gone. For at least 20 years.
