I have seen exactly ONE of these films, JAZZ N A SUMMER'S DAY. I doubt I'll make any effort to find and watch any o the others, though I may watch that one again. It's worth it just for the part with Anito O'Day singing "Tea for Two".
I've seen two, RIDE LONESOME and THE TARNISHED ANGELS, which is loosely based on Faulkner's PLYON. Worth seeing for Dorothy Malone's parachute scene. Or just by the Signet movie edition.

I believe I've seen 10 of the 40, none of which I'd consider a "classic" but most of which I liked.
I still say: where's Gator Bait?

Exactly one also. Modern Romance. Amusing, but in no way a classic.

I had seen The Tales Of Hoffman which is very good. Made by the same guys who did the Red Shoes.

Only Modern Romance for me. I'm more of a Joe Bob Briggs kind of movie goer, anyway.

Also MAKE WAY FOR TOMORROW, THE RECKLESS MOMENT, OUR DAILY BREAD (you should check this one out), REMEMBER THE NIGHT, MAN OF ARAN and ACCIDENT.

Great to see RIDE LONESOME at the top of the list! Only one I'd quibble with is the '28 HOUSE OF USHER, which I found slow and a bit pretentious
