I think "geatest potential for growth", as stated in the article, really means "we only want profit, and everything else gets the axe." Typical attitude these days.
I find the mostly blase attitude among writers interesting. A major book institution gone, and all it's really causing is a few shrugs. Is this because we've accepted that the book publishing industry is going to be overt time eroded to nothing, or is it because Kirkus to us writers had little value??
Good question, but I don't have an answer. So many magazines are dying that nobody's surprised to see these two bite the dust, I guess. Maybe it's a "whaddya gonna do?" attitude. Fatalism.

Sunsabitches never liked me anyway.
Usually they didn't like me, either.

Kirkus was a company of cowards, blasting anyway at books and writers from the cover of anonymity. Good riddance.
WV: messe. That says it all.
Wahoo! Kirkus is finally gone. They hated EVERYTHING that PW and Booklist liked.
