I've read about half of the list and want to read a good many of the others. I'd have to agree with her assessments. There are some excellent books on there.

Only the Potter series for me.

Couldn't get into Potter, Randy. Thinking back, the last SF series I really gor into was A. Bertram Chandler's Galactic Rim series. {Sweet Geezuz, I'm old. Dammit!]

wv: douse --what they did to the fires of my youth :-(

Bill, I bet I'm a lot more out of it than you. I've only even heard of 5 of the 20, and have read two - the Potters and THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE, neither of which I would characterize as sf.

I loved A. Bertram Chandler's series, too. I've read about 20% of the "20 Best SF Books of the Decade" list.

Or, why i09 sux. They couldn't be bothered to call the list Our Choices in Speculative Fiction or In Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror, or what have you.

Susannah Clarke's, some of the Ted Chiang, the Max Brooks and Jo Walton's are even less science-fictional than THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE, if no less sfnal than Pottery.

So, other than stupid presentation, which i09 is Real Good At, I don't have too many problems with the list, but why keep being foolish about labels?
