I saw this one and its sequel, HELL UP IN HARLEM, on TCM last year in nice uncut prints. David Kalat has an interesting article about the movie on the TCM web page http://www.tcm.com/2008/underground/movies/index/?cid=157912 AMERICAN GANGSTER tells a similar story on a bigger budget, but BLACK CAESAR is more fun.
