As a lifelong acrophobe (at least, afraid of falling and open heights), I always found the LIDDSVILLE opening the most offputting of the Kroft Thai sticks. Thought the Huck Finn/Tom Sawyer serial on the BANANA SPLITS series might've been the most disturbing, a few years earlier.
You got it right the second time, librarian. So did I. For years I thought he was saying "pluck" instead of "plunk." I maintain the pluck makes more sense, but logic is apparently not part of the equation.

I grew up with The Ruff & Reddy Show, Huckleberry Hound, Quickdraw McGraw, all those other nice Hanna Barbera cartoons so...I'm okay :D
C'mon, where's Andy's Gang?
Any show featuring Froggy the Gremlin warped more than yours truly and Cap'n Bob.

Twang your magic twanger, Froggie!
(Andy Devine)
If Jeff and the Cap'n read that, you're going to be sooooooo sorry you said it.
So, that was a misquote.
It is "Plunk your magic twanger, Froggie" which doesn't sound too much better. It has been a long time since I watched the show, to say the least.
Now you're going to be even sorrier. Assuming Jeff and the Cap'n see this, that is. It's a long story.
