Cut-It-Out: Personal Finance News from Yahoo! Finance: "When it comes to cutting costs, consumers always look at the big stuff. Postponing that vacation. Keeping your car a few more years. Nixing the addition on the house.
But it's often the little things that can make an even bigger difference. For instance, Joseph Montanaro, a certified financial planner for USAA Financial Planning Services, says he saved $130 a month just by kicking his daily Dr Pepper habit. That's a savings of $1,560 over a year."
Hat tip to Doc Quatermass.

That's a hell of a habit, given that one can get a 2L bottle for a dollar in most supermarkets, at least some of the time.
I certainly do so, often enough (Diet, alas).
Bill, you could save gazillions.
Yes, but would life be worth living?
I take the phrase "daily Dr. Pepper habit" to mean one Dr. Pepper per day (if it were more, then he would say "my two can per day Dr.Pepper habit," or something similar, right?), and by my calculations $1560 per year works out to $4.27 per unit of Dr. Pepper (can, bottle, whatever). His problem isn't that he's drinking Dr. Pepper. His problem is that he's buying it at the wrong place.
The Blushing Bride tells me that I could substitute that Pibb stuff or even "Dr. Thunder" to replace Dr Pepper--and it would save us money!
Safeway's The Skipper seems to have disappeared.
