Well, as I noted yesterday on Patti Abbott's blog, the arguably good news is that they're remaking THE STEPFATHER, the inarguably good news is that it stars Sela Ward in the role Cheryl Ladd had in the original (and did very well with) and the awful news is that they hired a neo-slasher film writer to "update" the Donald Westlake script.

Update Westlake? They really know how to do things in Hollywood.

IMDB indicates that Shelley Hack was the mom in the 1987 original. (I didn't think it was Cheryl but couldn't remember who till I looked at the cast list.) As I recall, Jill Schoelen as the teenaged daughter had the shower scene.

I forgot to add, I suppose it doesn't make any difference that no one asked for a ROCKY HORROR SHOW remake, or that one is certainly not needed.

A remake is certainly NOT needed. The first film was one too many.

Indeed, Shelley Hack. I tend to conflate the latter-day ANGELS, when I was completely ignoring the show. She was quite good in the film, and probably should've had a better career than she did. Jill S, too.
