George Lucas planning 'Star Wars' TV series - Los Angeles Times: "Attention, TV executives: The Force may soon be with you.
Filmmaker George Lucas said Tuesday that he has 'just begun work' on a live-action television series rooted in the 'Star Wars' universe, which is huge news not just for fans of the science-fiction epic but also for networks looking for a piece of the Lucas magic that has grossed $4.3 billion in theaters worldwide.
There is a caveat, though: The proposed series doesn't have anyone named Luke or Anakin in it, a story path that Lucas concedes is 'taking chances' as far as connecting with an audience expecting the familiar mythology.
'The Skywalkers aren't in it, and it's about minor characters,' Lucas said in an interview. 'It has nothing to do with Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader or any of those people. It's completely different. But it's a good idea, and it's going to be a lot of fun to do.'"

I bet you're right.
Maybe if it starred Jabba I'd watch.
What they need is Leia in the slave-girl outfit. Then I'd watch.
It's going to star Jabba as the head of a dysfunctional crime family. Other characters include Uncle Hutt Jr. and Big Hutty (who gets whacked at the end of season 1).
Hey, there's nothing like an original concept.
or they could have eit all about that green hottie that got thrown to the bantha in episone "4"
Scripts by competent writers would be a nice touch...to distinguish them from all but the second movie, doncha know...(and Kasdan did his rep no favors).
Given that Lucas' earlier TV credits include the bizarre STAR WARS Christmas special, the insipid Ewok movies, and the anemic Young Indiana Jones series, I wouldn't bank too much on this one.
I was just going to say it will be about Chewbacca's relatives and Ewoks having Christmas together. And then there's Princess Amidala (or something whatever) bringing them presents.
kinda makes the guys on the dark side seem justified, don't it.
