Meanwhile, Max Roach died today, as the blog there notes.

I met him once. He was a genius who never stopped trying to do more and better and different.

Seemingly never satisfied.

And wrote music...FREEDOM NOW SUITE...the Double Quartet compositions (including his daughter's string quartet)...the last Max Roach Quartet was as good a band as we've recently had...
