The long goodbye - USATODAY.com: "Times have changed for Michael Jackson (No. 24 below) and vinyl records (No. 5) since he released Thriller 25 years ago. Today, we look back at 25 years of other changes in our lives. Some things are still around (No. 4), some not (No. 6). Disagree with our picks? Tell us at usatoday.com, and we'll post yours."

Brown bread. Not wheat bread nor pumpernickel, but the sweet bread that comes in a can that is meant to be eaten with baked beans...but better without, but heated and buttered.
Pizza Spins, but they actually seemed to disappear during the '70s. Why Bugles survive from that product line, and the Spins don't, I don't know.
Floppy discs.
Reasonably "safe" sex without barrier methods.
Network radio drama (yes, it staggered into the 1980s).
MIKE SHAYNE MYSTERY MAGAZINE. TWILIGHT ZONE MAGAZINE. WHISPERS. GALAXY. AMAZING. FANTASTIC. BLACK MASK/A MATTER OF CRIME.
Man, I miss those magazines.
SHORT STORY INTERNATIONAL is probably the only other fiction magazine important to me in the last 25 that has since folded, aside from CRANK! Ever read SSI, Bill? Or did you/do you read any of the eclectic littles? SOUTHWEST REVIEW, PARIS REVIEW, etc?
I've read something from all of those, but I was never a regular reader. I used to read them when someone would call a story to my attention or when a friend was published there.
