The Naked City

We just got back from our whirlwind walking tour of a small portion of NYC. Are there 8 million stories in the naked city? I think there must be even more. There must have been 8 million people on the streets today, at least.

We saw, among other things, Grand Central Station, the Flatiron Building (where we paid a surprise visit to Ruth Cavin, my editor at St. Martin's), Washington Square, a bit of Greenwich Village, Ground Zero, St. Paul's Church, and Chinatown.

Without Jeff and Jackie Meyerson as our indefatigable guides, we'd never have seen 1/10 of that, much less survived the subway at rush hour. Thanks, Jeff and Jackie!

I am sooo jealous. I've never taken advantage of the Meyersons knowledge of the city (and should have), but it sounds like they showed you a good time. Now, theatre. Frank Langella is currently on Broadway doing Nixon to Tony Blair's David Frost. It just got a great review in the Times. Go see it. Continue to have a great time and being home the little Hitler bust.

Steve, I hate to tell you this, but we're going to have only a couple of nights free, and we just won't make it to a show. However we wished for you today when we saw the sunbathers in the parks. You would have enjoyed the scenery. Maybe not as much as a show, but nevertheless. . . .

Thanks for thinking of me. There's really nothing like New York in the Springtime. I fall in love at least twice a block.

But remember, theatre starts late. You could do it. Forget the hobnobbing with the rich and famous, you can do that at Bouchercon.

If this is spring, I'd hate to see summer. It was 86 in Central Park yesterday, a new record for the date.
