Jim Gaffigan: "There's always a drunk at Waffle House. If you're in Waffle House and don't see a drunk, YOU'RE the drunk."

Uh oh. Don't tell Ted Hertel. He loves Waffle House.

Some other restaurant chains are open when drunk people need them most, but Kid Rock isn’t getting arrested for fighting at IHOP, and former psy-ops soldiers aren’t getting busted for smoking meth while dressed as a clown at a Denny’s counter.

My kids love WH. I think it's because they can go there anytime of day or night.

We were driving home from Biloxi once (about a 60-mile trip) and decided to take the scenic (i.e., non-Interstate) road home. I counted about 15 before it became a joke. Otoh, for weeks after Katrina, they were the only place open around here. Many people, including my husband, sometimes ate three meals a day there!

We've eaten there once or twice. On I-95 from New York to Florida there are many, many along the way.

We usually go to Cracker Barrel, Jackie's preference, instead.
