Creature From the Green Lagoon: Caddo Lake is being consumed by the world’s most monstrous weed. Herbicides, kitchen strainers, and even blowtorches have failed to stop it. Now a local band of volunteers is making a last-ditch effort to save these treasured wetlands.

Really great photos. I thought it was going to be about water hyacinth, which is just as bad in some places. One thing I wondered is do the weevils eat up the plant entirely or just enough to kill it? Because if they leave dead matter, it will also sink to the bottom like the uneaten stuff.
