Well, for Texas, Dime Box is still pretty good, but my favorite is still Bobo from an old crap-shooter's shout (later popularized as a song by Tex Ritter): "Teneha, Timpson, Bobo and Blair".
When you start looking for these, you can find a lot. Just the states I've liven in: Illinois: Oblong...or Aroma Park Indiana: French Lick...or Gnaw Bone Kentucky: Hills and Dales (one place)...or Peewee Valley West Virginia: Camden-on-Gauley (just for the pretension)...or Nutter Fork Wisconsin: Clam Falls...or Lac du Flambeau (or one of the 12 towns named Lincoln)
And, in Michigan, Hope is just down the road from Hell.

The Neversink Reservoir put the lie to the name of the town.
