I can vouch for the Varsity and the Parkette. Kicking myself over some that I was ignorant of, despite having lived near. Was surprised not to see the Wheel Drive-in from Sedalia, Missouri until a quick Google search provide the unfortunate news that it shut down in 2013. I miss the old days.

When I was a kid growing up in Indianapolis, the best drive-in in town was the Tee-Pee, at the south-east corner of 38th Street and Fall Creek Parkway, just outside the Indiana State Fairgrounds. I can't post a photo here, but there's a good one at http://historicindianapolis.com/hi-mailbag-tee-pee-restaurants/ along with some history. Great pork tenderloins, best fries ever. McDonald's bought it in 1978 (it had been in decline for at least 10 years) and tore it down. Now, the space is part of the Fairgrounds parking lot.
