I knew of all of these except "jawn." I first ran into "sesquipedalian" in Dorothy Sayers' book Murder Must Advertise, and had to look it up (fortunately--this was pre-internet--we had a compact OED, with the magnifying glass).

The first time I remember reading "defenestration" was in John Dickson Carr's THE CASE OF THE CONSTANT SUICIDES. I guess you'd use "lickspittle" to describe the average Republican House member.
