Once Again Texas Leads the Way

He Got a Bad Grade. So, He Got the Constitution Amended. Now He's Getting the Credit He Deserves.

A great Texas (and Austin) story.

That is a great story, though if Trump has his way there will be no NPR soon. His budget proposal cuts it (and PBS) to ZERO funding.

Zero out the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (PBS/NPR), the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities. Eliminate a large percentage of the Centers for Disease Control budget. Cut the State Department budget by a quarter (including, apparently, big cuts to embassy and consular security). And throw a lot of money at the Pentagon, which apparently hasn't asked for it and doesn't have an actual plan for how to spend it. Brilliant.

Not that I have a point of view.

The lowest, most infuriating, and certainly meanest thing I've read so far is getting rid of Meals on Wheels.

There is a great chapter on this subject in Richard B. Bernstein s and Jerome Agel's Amending America. I have taught the US Constitution on multiple occasions since 1995, to high school and university students and adults, and I always include a unit on Gregory Watson and the 27th Amendment. It is a very important story that few people seem to be aware of.
