Sad. A fantastic talent with a fantastic voice. The Limelighters were always a favorite of mine.

Well, dang. I grew up in the heyday of American "folk music"--in some cases a misnomer, because in this country folk music is a matter of style rather than a real anthropological designation--but anyway. My parents watched HOOTENANNY and the other folk music TV shows, and listened to the Limelighters, the Serendipity Singers and the Kingston Trio; I have a number of such albums myself. Glenn Yarborough was always a standout with a unique voice (parodied so well by Christopher Guest in A MIGHTY WIND, which I find as much an hommage as a parody or satire). And BABY, THE RAIN MUST FALL might have been his most famous song. At 86 he had a good run...but I'll miss him and that whole somehow innocent era.
