In junior high we were about in the George Costanza "can't climb the rope" category. Somehow we shared a gym class with an incredibly tough group of guys from a very different neighborhood.
The volleyball game was scary. I did pretty well by hiding in the back and dodging.
Years ago I looked through my daughter's school American History text. In the section about WWII there was two sentences about D-Day. A very brief paragraph on the attack on Pearl Harbor. Four sentences on the holocaust. Nothing on the rape of Nanking. BUT there was a full page about the role women played during the war. Another page on how African Americans contributed. A large section on the Japanese internment camps. And another on the deadly results of the H Bomb droppings.

We still have Home Ec--now called ProStart--but emphasis is on cooking and nutrition not finances.
Not sorry that Dodgeball is off the table. Whoever thought it was "a rite of passage" never got clobbered in the face by one!
