O/T, but this story has everything: Texas, books, libraries, and cats: http://bigstory.ap.org/567c2f4890954f8d9286d5d3f0fb84a9

Good advice on the hair, but I've heard it already. In 1996 Nada Surf released a satirical song & video about high school and high school girls in particular. It featured a health teacher lecturing girls about attracting boys. Here's the relevant advice from verse 2:

Being attractive is the most important thing there is
If you wanna catch the biggest fish in your pond
You have to be as attractive as possible
Make sure to keep your hair spotless and clean
Wash it at least every two weeks
Once every two weeks!

You can view the video, if so inclined, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNc45FTenhg

There was a movement afoot a few years back to go back to shampooing weekly (showering/bathing too, iirc) because it being better for the environment and for our skin/scalp. It didn't gain much traction. I guess people don't want to walk around with a week's worth of accumulated dirt on them not to mention a head that looks like Crisco's been dumped on it.

Yum - Crisco.

Well Deb, the no-shower movement is not dead... check this series of videos from the Atlantic. Actually, quite interesting and probably has some merit. I'm sure my wife wouldn't let me try it, tho!

At Tankon we can't shower, bathe, or wash our hair for five days. At the end of that time I feel like a hobo. No, thanks.
