Gary Warren Niebuhr Retires

Gary Warren Niebuhr Retires: Greendale Public Library Director Gary Warren Niebuhr announced his retirement after 36 years of public service and today is his last day. (not kidding though Gary is often hysterically funny so it’s the perfect day for his last day)

Those of you who know Gary (and even those who don't) will enjoy this.

I think I first met Gary at the inaugural Eyecon (Milwaukee, 1994), but he was for years a fixture at Magna Cum Murder. I think he might know more about the history and development of the mystery novel than anyone except for maybe Al Hubin. I hope he has a busy and rewarding retirement.

I thought he retired years ago.

I may be following Gary's example soon.

How can Gary be retired. He's just a kid! I remember when he started out in the field. I published some of his first writing in my fanzine.

Come on, George. You can do it! Although when you do retire you'll wonder how you ever had time to work.

Gary is having a lot more fun than any of us, I think.
