That was a surprisingly well-written article (that whole Chill Wills Oscar campaign puts anything Miramax ever did to shame); although I must admit I was a little disappointed when I clicked on the link and discovered the article was not about THE CONQUEROR.
My Dad and my Uncle took their boys to the Drive-in to see "The Alamo." I remember falling asleep in the back seat. I'm sure mostly because of the length of the movie. I remember reading that during filming The Duke was chain smoking more than he usually did because of the pressure.

My brother loves this movie. When it opened in our hometown, he went every night that it was shown.
Deb, when I saw that headline, I thought for sure the article would be about THE CONQUEROR.
I would have guessed The Green Berets, myself. Although The Conqueror was...pretty bad.
The man did work pretty regularly, didn't he? IMDB has him in 140 movies.
O thought of The Conqueror too. Of course the most memorable thing about the movie to me is the Chill Wills Oscar debacle.
The ALAMO murder figures in one of John Hegenberger's Stan Wade books.
