We saw him on Broadway in Theresa Rebeck's SEMINAR four years ago. And when I won free tickets for the premiere of the last Harry Potter film, he was there with the rest of the cast.
I think the first thing I saw him in was Barchester Towers, just a magnificent performance. Also magnificent, but totally different, was his Sheriff of Nottingham. An incredibly versatile actor, pitch perfect in everything I saw.
I just re-watched TRULY MADLY DEEPLY last month an d he brought tears to my eyes once again. And I would add his movie-stealing turn as Kevin Kline's goofy sidekick in THE JANUARY MAN.

Glad they included TRULY, MADLY, DEEPLY--and I'd totally forgotten about his hilarious turn in GALAXY QUEST.

RIP
One of the very, very best. Let's not forget QUIGLEY DOWN UNDER or the wonderful BOTTLE SHOCK, while we're at it. I will really miss him.
