Hollywood Reporter: Wes Craven, the famed writer-director known for the Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream movies, died Sunday after a battle with brain cancer. He was 76.

LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT (1973) was the first R-rated movie I ever saw, going on what was my first official date. I can't say I kept up with Craven's movies after that.
Well, that one was pretty awful. And did you go on a second date after that?
His followup movie, THE HILLS HAVE EYES, was equally horrid. I have to admit I've never seen a film of his I really liked, though I do have a soft spot for SWAMP THING.
